BROOKINGS, SD - The Washington State University volleyball team captured a 30-15, 30-28, 30-26 win over North Dakota State Friday afternoon in the Cougars' second match of the day at the South Dakota State Jackrabbit Kickoff Tournament at Frost Arena on the SDSU campus.

WSU, 2-0, was led by Adetokunbo Faleti's 14 kills and Kelly Rosin's 12 kills (.440). Cougar freshman setter Corina Beyer had 44 assists and three service aces. Stephanie Weishaar led the match with 14 digs while Kelly Hyder and Jalen Pendon added 11 digs each. Freshman Cassie Robbins led all players with five blocks.

Rosin, a team captain and three-year starter for WSU, did not play in the Gonzaga match after feeling light-headed earlier in the day.

North Dakota State, 0-2, was led by the 11 kills of Sheila Parrish while Kellie Kaufmann contributed 11 digs and Lindsay Rogers had three blocks. Setter Mattie Johnson had 29 assists. The Bison lost a five-game match earlier in the day to host South Dakota State.

"This was our best day ever in my tenure at WSU. The whole team played very, very well," Cougar Head Coach Brian Heffernan said. "Our offense was clicking and our defense was dominating. Tokunbo Faleti has done a really good job of fixing her approach so that she can be a leftside player for us. We knew she was a great athlete and you saw it tonight. It was an outstanding day for her (39 kills in two matches) and those are the kinds of numbers she is capable of."

WSU hit .441 as a team in the first game win. The Cougars trailed 27-24 in the second game before out-scoring the Bison 6-to-1 for the 30-28 win. NDSU closed the Cougar lead in the third game to just two points at 27-25, but kills from Jackie Albright and Rosin and an attack error by a Bison, gave WSU the 30-26 win and match sweep.

Washington State meets Weber State Saturday morning (9:30 a.m. PT), and host South Dakota State, in a 5 p.m. match that night.
