MOSCOW, Idaho -- Andrea Thornton, a volunteer assistant coach and former All-American thrower at Washington State University, won the women's hammer throw at the Moscow McDonald's Outdoor meet, Friday at the University of Idaho.

Thornton, throwing unattached, won the women's hammer with a throw of 199-feet, 5 inches (60.78m). Cougar junior Sammy Jo Missel placed fourth with a toss of 164-9 (50.22m).

In the men's hammer throw, former Cougar Matt Shaffer, unattached, won with a toss of 195-9 (59.67m). Cougar senior Thad Cullinan threw a PR and NCAA Regional Qualifying mark of 186-3 (56.76m) for second place.

The track meet continues Saturday at Moscow.
