THIS WEEK: Washington State opens its 2008 Pacifi c-10 Conference schedule hosting California...Cougars and Golden Bears will square off at Bailey-Brayton Field Thursday, March 20-Saturday, March 22...Thursday and Friday games will start at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's tilt is scheduled for 11 a.m.

WSU ON THE INTERNET: For the latest information about Cougar baseball, log onto the offi cial site of Washington State University Athletics, www.wsucougars.com...live stats are provided for all Cougar home games as well as the majority of WSU road games...all Cougar games in Pullman will be available via live video streaming for Cougar All-Access subscribers.

COUGARS ON THE RADIO: The remaining games of the 2008 Washington State baseball season will be broadcast on KQQQ 1150 AM...longtime broadcaster Steve Grubbs provides the play-by-play for the fourth season.

WASHINGTON STATE IN THE POLLS: The Cougars are ranked 25th in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll...WSU is receiving votes for the third-straight week in the ESPN/USA Today poll and for the fi rst time this season by Baseball America.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA: The Golden Bears are 13-3-1, including 3-0 on the road...two of their three wins away from home are over ranked opponents...California is ranked 12th by Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America, 22nd by ESPN/USA Today, and 24th by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association...lost 12-6 to Sacramento State in Berkeley, Tuesday...Josh Satin leads the regulars with a .441 batting average...David Cooper is tops on the team with eight home runs and 24 RBI...Kevin Miller has logged 19 innings in seven appearances, two starts, and has posted a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA.

SERIES AGAINST THE GOLDEN BEARS: California leads 36-25-1, including 11-5 in Pullman...fi rst meeting resulted in a 12-3 California victory in Pullman, June 16, 1902...teams did not meet again until 1947 when the Golden Bears went 1-0-1 against the Cougars in Berkeley on their way to the inaugural College World Series title...series did not return to Pullman until 1969 when the schools split a pair of games...other series in Pullman include 1970 (1-1), 1989 (2-0 California), 1999 (2-1 California), 2002 (3-0 California) and 2004 (2-1 Washington State).

KOST SETS APPEARANCES RECORD: Senior left-hander Steve Kost made his 11th appearance in 2008, and 76th of his career, in the second game of a doubleader at Oklahoma, March 15...broke the WSU career games pitched record of 75 held by Tom Pellerin (1983-86)...Kost leads the Pacifi c-10 Conference in appearances and holds a 1-0 record with one save this season.

HUMES NAMED PAC-10 PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Junior left-hander Ross Humes earned Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for March 11-17...logged seven shutout innings during the week...made his fi rst start since 2006 and blanked No. 15 Wichita State for fi ve innings, March 12 in a no decision...became the first Cougar since Reed Rainey in 1985 to post two saves in a day when he nailed down both victories in a doubleheader sweep at No. 25 Oklahoma, March 15...second-straight season Humes has earned a conference Pitcher of the Week selection.

COUGARS SEEK TO CONTINUE HOME SUCCESS: Washington State is looking to post its fourth-straight Pac-10 series win at home...Cougars took two out of three from No. 12 Arizona (April 20-22), Stanford (May 5-7) and UCLA (May 18-20) last season.

MIDWEST RECAP: The Cougars went 3-3 on their six-game, six-day road trip to the Midwest, March 11-16...lost 9-6 at Kansas State and 6-4 at No. 15 Wichita State before taking three out of four games at No. 25 Oklahoma.

COUGAR BULLPEN: The Washington State bullpen is 7-1 with six saves and a 3.59 earned run average this season...logged 23-consecutive innings (Feb. 23-March 1) without giving up an earned run...Michael Ratigan is 3-0 and has yielded a lone unearned run in 11 and two-thirds innings in fi ve relief appearances...Ross Humes has made eight appearances out of the pen and is 1-0 with four saves and a 0.00 ERA...Andrew Davis has made 10 appearances posting a 2-0 record and 0.68 ERA...Davis has struck out 13 and walked one in 13 and one-third innings.
