What's Happening This Week: WSU men's golf to compete in 2002 Vandal Classic Sept. 28-29 at the 6,637-yard, par-72 University of Idaho Golf Course...Tee time for Saturday is 8 a.m., 7:30 a.m. for Sunday...The Vandal Classic is a 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes Saturday, and the final 18 Sunday...Par-5s range in length from the 491-yard sixth to the 556-yard fourth...Par-4s tee from the 293-yard ninth to the 415-yard 18th...Par-3s test the irons from the 156-yard second to the 232-yard uphill 17th.

Field: The 14-team field will consist of British Columbia, Boise State, Cal-Poly, Cal-State Northridge, Gonzaga, Idaho, Idaho State, Loyola Marymount, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, Simon Fraser, Southern Utah, Utah State, WSU.

Head Coach Walt Williams on the Vandal Classic: "This will probably be the closest we get to play to home all year and we're looking forward to getting out there and defending our title."

What Happened Last Tournament: WSU finished in eighth place at the Badger Invitational at the par 72, 6,888 yard University Ridge Golf Course Sept. 8...Dustin White finished fourth, tying him for career top 10 finishes at 13 with Jon Reehoorn... Newcomer Ryan Ressa finished tied for 14th at the Badger Invitational for his first top 25 finish at WSU... Ryan Camp fired a school record tying seven-under par 65 in the second round of the Badger Invitational Sept. 7.

WSU Men at the Vandal Classic: WSU set to defend 2001 title...WSU captured last year's Vandal Fall Classic title by one stroke over Washington...WSU placed five golfers in the top 18 led by Dustin White's second place finish...Ryan Camp and Isaac Woods completed the tournament in a tie for 16th and 18th place, respectively.

Marking the Scorecard: WSU ranks 39th as a team according to the first Golfweek/Sagarin rankings of the fall ...WSU ranks ahead of five Pac-10 schools...WSU's schedule ranks 20th, second highest in the Pac-10 behind Arizona State (1st)...WSU ranks 44th in the GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) Precept Coaches Division I Top 25 Poll.

White Hot: Dustin White ranks 48th in the nation according to Golfweek...White has been selected as one of the Top 50 male players to watch during the 2002-03 season by GolfWorld magazine in its Sept. 6 issue.
