CORVALLIS, Ore. - In the opening tournament of the season, the Cougars sit one shot out of first place after the first two rounds at the Northwest Collegiate Classic at the par 72, 7,070 yard Trysting Tree Golf Club.

Three Cougars finished in the top 15 after the first 36 holes of play. Ryan Witz, the only senior on the team, leads the pack and sits in a tie for third, only three shots out of first. Junior Chris Collins shot the third lowest round of the day, shooting five under par in the second round placing him in a tie for seventh, while redshirt junior Jordan Madison finished in a tie for 11th.

Sophomore Jordan Mason heads into the final round in a tie for 27th sitting just one shot out of the top 25, while junior Kevin Chen rounds out the Cougar scoring shooting a 147 (+3) and is in a tie for 41st.

The tournament was originally scheduled to start with the first team teeing off at 7:45 a.m., but was delayed due to fog and forced to switch to a shotgun start for both rounds.

The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday, Sept. 20, with tee times starting at 7:45 a.m.
