The last few days in Mexico were surprisingly tense, considering we had just beat Jamaica which guaranteed us a spot at the world cup in RUSSIA!! A load had been lifted but we still had one more game - the final against USA.
The Americans took the lead in the 8th minute but in the 41st minute, Carrie Dew went in too hard on Jodi-Ann Robinson and received her second yellow of the match. After half time we came out pretty hard and managed to equalize in the 57th and take the lead in the 61st minute. The US came back with a goal in the 71st minute and then another in the 82nd and we ended up losing 3-2. It was so disappointing BUT it was probably the best game we had played, as a team, all tournament. Our coaches were very proud of us.
Mexico ended up beating Jamaica 3-1 and also earning themselves a spot in the world cup.
After the game, we took some time to relax. That night we had dinner on the beach and then ended up hanging out with the Jamaican National team for the rest of the night. As much as we want to hate the other teams on the field, most of the girls at the tournament were very friendly. Overall it was an amazing experience and I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Glad to be back though. : )
