PULLMAN, Wash. - The No. 13 Washington State University women's rowing team completed the morning session in second-place overall at the Lake Natoma Invitational Saturday.
The Cougar varsity eight and varsity four each placed first in its heat, helping the team earn 16 team points, second only to California's 18. The WSU varsity eight (Sarah Wolff, Kyann Martin, Hannah Rothstrom, Justine Galbraith, Allie Reilly, Katie Dick, Lisa Roman, Irena Neffeova, Corina Chilibeck - cox) edged Tennessee by one second and also knocked off Minnesota by finishing with a time of 6:33.0, the third-best varsity eight time of the morning.
The WSU varsity four (Katie Wollstein, Liz England, Crystal Martin, Lauren Johnson, Cayla Ravancho - cox) finished with a time of 7:22.9, defeating Minnesota and Tennessee and coming within .2 seconds of the fastest varsity four time of the morning.
Still contributing significant points, the Cougar second varsity eight (Annie Eastwood, Danya Levesque, Corinna Sharick, Erica Lewis, Erika Jorgensen, Sarah Powell, Christina Kinck, Natasha Ostopovich, Lexi Ryman - cox) finishing approximately 2.5 seconds behind Tennessee in its heat, with a time of 6:42.0.
The Cougar novice eight (Erin Ranney, Jessica Start, Stephanie Hinkle, Alison Smith, Jennifer Hale, Josie Lallemand, Rachel Snodgrass, Kaitlan Foster, Heidi Kim - cox) finished within two seconds of Texas in its first of two non-scoring heats this weekend, earning a time of 6:58.24.
