First Day Results.

Freshman Mallory Kent shot a two-round score of 154 (+10) to lead Washington State University during the first day of play at the 2011 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational Monday, played on the par 72, 6,139-yard Kane'ohe Klipper course.

As a team the Cougars are tied for 11th after the opening day, shooting a 313 in the morning followed by a 309 in the afternoon. The Cougars are at 622 (+46) and are 12 shots out of the top 5. Arizona State held the team lead Monday with a 586 (+10), followed by Notre Dame (591) and Arizona (600).

Kent is tied for 33rd after her first two rounds, which included a 4-over 76 in the afternoon, two shots better than her morning round. Sophomore teammates Emma Betland and Ali Thompson are just a shot behind as they both carded two-round scores of 155. Betland's included a 79 in the morning followed by a 76 in the afternoon. Thompson shot an 80 for her opening 18 holes but followed that with a 75 in the afternoon, marking the low score by a Cougar on the day. Both players are tied for 41st.

Senior Allison Travis is tied for 55th after an opening-day 158 for her two rounds. Travis had the low Cougar score in the morning with a 76 followed by an 82 in the afternoon. Junior Kristen Allard is tied for 78th as her two-round score of 164 included an 81 and an 83.

Playing as an individual is sophomore Ellen Park, who shot 85-81 for her two rounds as is tied for 88th. Also playing as an individual is sophomore Brenda Jesernig, who carded identical 87s for her two rounds Monday and is tied for 104th.

WSU concludes play at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational with a final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
