Men's Golf Faces Six Pac-10 Teams at Duck Invite

What's Happening This Week: WSU men's golf will travel to Eugene, Ore., for the 2003 Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club Mar. 24-25...first 36 holes will be played Monday, Mar. 24, starting at 8 a.m....final 18 holes begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 25...Cougars face six Pac-10 teams among field of 16, and 14 other teams vying for a spot in the West Regionals.

Field: The 16-team field will consist of Arizona, UCLA, San Jose, Michigan State, Nevada, San Diego State, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Pepperdine, Hawaii, Washington, Northwestern, Oregon State, Cal-Davis, Oregon, and Washington State.

Head Coach Walt Williams On The Duck Invite: "This is the strongest field that we have seen this season and it will tell us a lot about our team. We are facing strong national teams as well as strong Pac-10 teams, and it's our first true test. I would like to see us show a real sense of competitiveness and that we will stand toe-to-toe with these guys. We need to finish in the Top 14 of an incredibly strong field to improve our chances at getting into Regional competition."

What Happened Last Tournament: The Washington State men's golf team finished in seventh at the Coastal Carolina Invite at the Par 72, 6,920 yard TPC of Myrtle Beach, Tuesday Mar. 11...Dustin White led all Cougars with a tie for 18th (76-75-73, 224) by improving on his score every round...White earned a record setting 27th career Top 25 finish after entering the tournament tied for first in the career mark at 26 with Jon Reehoorn...Ryan Camp averaged a 76 over the three days and finished in a tie for 30th (77-77-76, 228), followed by Chad Carlson at a tie for 33rd (75-77-77, 229), Isaac Woods at a tie for 43rd (74-75-83, 232), and Ryan Ressa at a tie for 61st (78-78-81, 237) to round out the Cougar contingent.

Marking the Scorecard: WSU ranks 94th as a team according to the first Golfweek/Sagarin performance index of the spring...Cougars are ranked 86th in the Div. I head-to-head rankings on Golfstat.com

White Hot: Dustin White ranks 169th in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin performance index...White is ranked 75th towards the Golfstat Cup, an award given to the best male golf performers by golfstat.com...White has been selected as one of the Top 50 male players to watch during the 2002-03 season by GolfWorld magazine in its Sept. 6 issue...7th in greens in regulation percentage at .747, according to golfstat.com.
