PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State receiver Mike Bush will get much-need rest during the next month while he recovers from a stress fracture of his left foot, according to WSU Head Athletic Trainer Bill Drake.
Drake indicated the normal recovery time should be four to six weeks, with the two-sport star in a walking boot for the first four weeks.
"We'll re-evaluate at the end of four weeks, which should be just before fall camp opens," Drake said. "If tests then show Mike is ready to go, he will be released, but if not, we'll limit his activity for another week or two."
Drake and Cougar football officials believe the 6-6 senior receiver, who caught 46 passes for 959 yards and 10 touchdowns last year, will have ample time to heal before the WSU opener Aug. 31 in Seattle against the Nevada Wolf Pack.
Bush, who completed his four-year Cougar basketball career in March, was WSU's number two receiver last fall, his first football action since high school. He averaged 20.8 yards per reception and 80 yards a game.
