Jen Barcus is a junior middle blocker on the Cougar volleyball team from Nine Mile Falls, Wash. An outstanding two-sport athlete at Lakeside High, Jen was the Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year for the state of Washington twice. Her team won three state volleyball championships and one basketball title. In 2002, her senior year, Jen was named the Seattle Times State 2A Girls Basketball Player of the Year and selected to the USA Today All-America girls' high school team. As a Cougar, Jen has already racked up two all-tournament team selections and leads the team with a 3.29 kpg and .315 hitting percentage. She's had double-figure kills in 12 of 16 matches and five or more blocks in 10 matches. In the all-time WSU career standings Jen is ninth in both block assists (281) and total blocks (315), and tied for 10th in career solo blocks (34). Meet Jen Barcus.

Favorite Color - Olive green

Favorite Athlete - Michael Jordan

Favorite Movie - Pulp Fiction. I've seen it 30 times. I own it so I watch it all the time. Quentin Tarantino is the man.

Favorite Class at WSU - Real Estate 345 with Glenn Crellin.

Favorite Professional team - The Mariners, unfortunately.

Best birthday present? When I was nine my parents gave me a puppy. I named it Freeman. It was a Scottie and we lived in Freeman, Wash., at the time. Now I have a Welsh Corgi name Scout who is about five months old. I pictures of him all over my house.

Which TV reality show could you see yourself on? I don't watch reality TV. I could see myself on Seinfeld.

Who makes you laugh? Jessie Camp (Cougar volleyball teammate).

Highlight of your athletic career? Being able to play NCAA volleyball at a Pac-10 school.

Before each match I - Put my socks and shoes on the same way every time. Right then left, one at a time.

What's in your CD player right now? Guns and Roses.

Who is the toughest player across the net? The toughest player to play against was Ogonna Nnamami (Stanford four-time All-American). She could hit the stuffing out of the ball.

Ever had a summer job? The last two summers I did yard work for my neighbors.

Pet peeves? When people talk about things they don't know about. They act like know everything.

Asian, Italian or Mexican food? Mexican. The hotter the better.

Most frequently dialed number on my cell phone - My mom.

On a long trip, drive or ride? Drive.

What is your worst habit? Picking at my fingers.

One thing very few people know about you? I like to play video games. I don't tell a lot of people that. Tigers Woods is my favorite. (Do you beat him?) Yes. (How are you on a real golf course?) Okay. So-so.

A word or phrase you use way too much? Probably uh. All the time.

Toughest place to compete? University of Washington. They have tons of fans that come all the time and it is a tough game to play. The crowd is overwhelming and the players across the net are kind of overwhelming.

Most embarrassing sporting moment? When I was being recruited, I went up to hit a ball and I missed it completely. They said it didn't matter though.
