TEXAS TOURNEY NEXT FOR COUGAR MEN: The Washington State men resume their spring golf season March 16-17 at the Border Olympics...the two-day tournament will be hosted by the University of Houston...the 16 team field will play on the 72-par, 7,241-yard Laredo Country Club, with two rounds played the first day and one round the final day...last year WSU finished 11th in the tournament...competing with WSU will be Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, North Texas, Notre Dame, Rice, South Alabama, SMY, Texas-Arlington, Texas State, UTEP, Vanderbilt and host Houston.

FIVE COUGAR MEN HEAD TO HOUSTON: Washington State will send five men to compete in the Houston Border Olympics golf tournament March 16-17...the Cougar team will include seniors Chris Collins and Jordan Madison and three freshmen, Nick Grigsby, Austin Hurt and Kevin Tucker.

Jordan Mason SIDELINED: Junior Jordan Mason will miss at least one tournament after suffering a severe ankle sprain during the second round of the USC-hosted North Ranch Invitational March 6...Mason shot rounds of 76 and 70 the first day of the tournament and was 25th going into the final day's action...he was jumping a small concrete ditch between the tee and an elevated green on the eighth hole when the injury occurred...in Mason's first outing of the spring he shot a +1 145 at the Thunderbird Invitational, then a +4 146 at the Inland Cup.

COLLINS NEARLY WINS INLAND CUP: Senior Chris Collins overcame his slow start at the Inland Cup by shooting a final round 65, the best round of the day...his final-day performance earned him an even-par 140, just one stroke off the co-medalists...Collins was the defending champion after winning the event in 2006.

WSU COUGAR MEN'S GOLF SCHEDULES

Feb. 12-13 Sunbrook Invitational, St. George, Utah (Host: S. Utah)
The Cougar men finished tied for sixth with a one-over par 577...Jordan Madison led WSU and tied for fourth with a -6 total of 138.

Feb. 26-26 Inland Cup, Clarkston, Wash. (Host: WSU)
Chris Collins shot a final round 65 to finish third in the non-team scoring event...Collins shot 75-65=140, one stroke behind the co-leaders.

March 5-6 North Ranch Invitational, Los Angeles (Host: USC)
WSU lost Jordan Mason early in the second round with a sprained ankle...Kevin Tucker led WSU with a 228 score and tied for 58th.

March 26-27 Duck Invitational, Eugene, Ore. (Host: Univ. Oregon)
