PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University swimming team ranked as one of the top programs in the College Swim Coaches Association Academic All-America Team standings, which was announced July 17.
The Cougars placed 35th in the team standings with an overall GPA of 3.25. WSU led all Pacific-10 Conference programs, as California was the next Pac-10 school on the list at 64th with a 2.99 GPA.
"The women's swim team at Washington State University has proven its commitment to success in the classroom," said Head Coach Erica Quam. "It is an honor for this team to be recognized for its academic achievements as one of the top Division I swimming teams in the nation.
"It is great to finish as the top team academically in the Pac-10 Conference, a conference that has a high standard for success," added Quam. "We will continue to emphasize this level of academic commitment as a team and hope to be even better in the future."
