Chris Collins Nabs Sixth Top-25 Finish of the Season at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas.- Washington State junior Chris Collins continued to climb his way up into WSU's record books after he garnered his ninth career top-25 finish at the 55th annual Border Olympics, March 17-18. The 54-hole tournament was held at the par-72, 7,241 yard Laredo Country Club at Laredo, Texas.

Collins fired a 2-over 218 to finish the two-day tournament in a three-way tie for 14th. His lowest score came during the first round as he opened up the tournament with a 1-under 71. The finish marks Collins' sixth top 25 of the season and ninth career top-25 effort. He now sits in 10th place on WSU's list of career top-25 finishes. The South Dakota native has finished in the top 25 in six of the season's nine tournaments, including four top-10 efforts.

Senior Ryan Witz and redshirt junior Jordan Madison found themselves tied as they each fired a 7-over 223 to end the tournament knotted at 36th. Junior Kevin Chen placed tied for 67th (231, +15) after shooting a 3-over 75 during the first round. Rounding out the Cougar contingent, sophomore Jordan Mason finished the tournament tied for 79th (239, +23).

The Cougars as a team finished the 16-team tournament in 11th (295, +31). The defending champion Baylor took the title once again with a five-stroke lead over Memphis at 9-under 855.

The Cougars return to action as they head to Pac-10 rival University of Oregon to compete in the Duck Invitational, March 27-28.
