Men's Golf Sits in Fourth After First Day of Stevinson Ranch Invitational

STEVINSON, Calif. - The Washington State University men's golf team sits in fourth place after the first two rounds of the Stevinson Ranch Invitational hosted by Colorado, Monday.

The Cougars finished the day with three players in the top 25 and recorded a total score of 593 at the par-72, 7,144-yard Stevinson Ranch Golf Club.

Leading the Cougars are sophomores Kevin Tucker and Austin Hurt who both fired a 2-over par 146 and sit in a tie for eighth heading into the final day of competition.

"We played pretty well today and produced three good scores each round," Head Coach Walt Williams said. "Tucker and Hurt were very solid and once again we are in position for a good finish."

Freshman Nick Ellis also sits in the top 25 and carded a two-round total of 150 (+6). Ellis heads into the final day of play in a tie for 22nd.

Sophomore Nick Grigsby shot a 1-over 73 in the second round and improved on his first round score by eight strokes. Grigsby ended the day with 154. Senior Jordan Mason also improved his score in the second round and finished the day with 155 to round out the Cougar contingent.

Junior Brandon Black, playing as an individual, carded an even par second round and finished with 151.

The men begin final round action with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
