Rain Cancels Third Round Shocker Classic

WICHITA, KS. -- Rain canceled the final round of the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic, hosted by Wichita State University at Crestview Country Club, leaving the Washington State University men's golf team in 15th place.

Redshirt freshman Brian Flugstad (76-70) remained the Cougar leader with a final-round total of 146 and finished in a five-way tie for 36th place. The Bothell, Wash. native is second on the team in spring averages with 75 strokes per round and has earned two WSU career top 25 finishes, including a top 10 finish in 1999.

Senior Jeremy Champoux (75-72) ended the tournament just one stroke behind Flugstad with a total of 147 on his scorecard. Champoux is the Cougar men's leader in averages with 73.9 strokes per round. Champoux has compiled four top 15 finishes in five tournaments this spring.

North Texas University (560) captured the team title with a sixteen under par team score. Tournament host Wichita State (579) finished its home tournament in seventh place. North Texas' Neal Collins shot eleven under par to earn top individual honors.

UP NEXT: The Cougar men will travel across the state line to compete in the Inland Empire Collegiate hosted by the University of Idaho April 15-16.
