PULLMAN, Wash. - The Cougar Athletic Fund (CAF), the fundraising arm of the Washington State University Athletic Department, announced plans to run the first calculation of its new Ticket Priority System (TPS) rankings, Tuesday, Nov. 15.
All contributions from Jan. 1, 2011 through Nov. 15, 2011 will be calculated into the first ranking, as will 2011 football and men's basketball season ticket purchases.
Washington State University Director of Athletics Bill Moos announced the changes to the Ticket Priority System, July 1, 2011, leaving fewer categories than the previous system, which had been virtually unchanged since its inception in 2001.
"We needed to simplify our ranking process to let our fans know what really makes a difference for the athletic department," said Moos. "We have created greater incentives for annual CAF membership and season ticket purchases, all which make a positive impact for our student-athletes.
"The 10-year-old Ticket Priority System was a success in terms of rewarding individuals and organizations for their investment in Washington State University," Moos added. "We've made some adjustments to better serve our donor base, which is critical to the future success of WSU Athletics."
The CAF will be recalculating TPS rankings three times annually; this ranking in the fall, in February (for basketball postseason ticket allocation and football season ticket allocation) and at the close of the fiscal year, June 30.
"The new points system was put into place with the goal of assigning the greatest value to unrestricted gifts to the CAF and season ticket purchases," said Assistant Athletic Director, Annual Giving & Tickets Dan Meyer. "Consistency of investment on an annual basis is also rewarded, and these changes bring WSU much more in line with industry standards across the country."
In conjunction with the new TPS system, a new online giving portal and benefit structure for CAF members is also being unveiled at WSUCougars.com. The online giving page will have an option to make recurring gifts on credit cards (Visa or Mastercard) that was previously a manual process or an EFT process through checking accounts. This new recurring credit card giving process is the result of a partnership with Paciolan, which has previously been instrumental in upgrading WSU's Athletic Ticket Office technology. With the new online giving portal, donors will now be able to renew their tickets, make donations and manage their CAF account all from one site.
The new benefits structure will focus on visible ways that CAF members can be identified in their community, creating synergy between the "Wave the Flag" and "Undefeated Fans" initiatives previously rolled out through the WSU Athletic Marketing office.
