SPOKANE, Wash. - Washington State and Gonzaga played to a 2-2 draw in women's spring soccer, Sunday.

The Cougars led 2-1 at intermission before the Bulldogs tallied the equalizer in the final-20 minutes.

Washington State grabbed a 1-0 lead as Kourtney Guetlein created an opportunity and Korynn Blanksma finished when she flicked the ball over the Gonzaga defenders and goalkeeper.

After the Bulldogs tied the score, the Cougars regained the lead before halftime. Following a great build up on the left side, the ball was played into the box. A scramble ensued before Kayla Johnson's shot hit the right post and went in for the go-ahead score.

The Cougars held their lead until the final-20 minutes when the Bulldogs tied the score against Washington State goalkeeper Matisse Hemingway.

Washington State had one-final flurry with about two minutes remaining, but Gonzaga's goalkeeper made a sprawling save to preserve the tie.

"It was not a great performance by us," Cougar Head Coach Keidane McAlpine said. "We did create some chances and had moments where we showed what we are capable of and what we have been working on in practice."
