What's Happening This Week: The No. 10 Washington State University rowing team will travel north to Spokane to meet Gonzaga and Western Washington Saturday, April 24...WSU has won 16 of its previous 18 spring contests against Gonzaga...the event starts at 9 a.m at Silver Lake in Spokane...the Cougars will face a streaking Bulldog team, which defeated Oregon State and Syracuse earlier this season...Western Washington is the top-ranked crew in the April 21 Division II CRCA/U.S. Rowing Poll.

WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on this weekend's race: "Gonzaga is going to come out like they were shot out of a cannon. We are very respectful of what they have done this season, but we just have to go out and take care of business. We are going to have to bring our A-game."

Pac-10 Highly Ranked: All seven Pacific-10 Conference rowing teams are ranked in the CRCA/U.S. Rowing Division Top-20 Poll for April 21, 2010...after its victorious weekend at the Lake Natoma Invitational (LNI), California moved into the top spot in the country...also as a result of the LNI, No. 6 Stanford dropped three spots while No. 10 WSU moved up three spots in this week's poll.

WSU/Gonzaga/Western Regatta Schedule:
9 a.m. - Novice Eight
9:15 a.m. - Second Varsity Four
9:30 a.m. - Varsity Eight
9:45 a.m. - Varsity Four
10 a.m. - Second Varsity
10:15 a.m. - Second Novice Eight

2009 vs. Gonzaga: The Cougars won the Fawley Cup, led by a six-second victory from the varsity eight, finishing with a time of 6:46.90...WSU second varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and second novice eight also won their races.

Last Time Out: WSU placed third in its first-ever appearance at the Lake Natoma Invitational...the Cougars defeated ranked opponents Tennessee and Wisconsin, fortifying their resume for NCAA Tournament selections in May...Pac-10 foes California and Stanford finished first and second, respectively, at the regatta.

Next Week: WSU will welcome Oregon State to town, as it hosts its only home regatta of the spring season May 1...the race, which is part of the 20 Years of Cougar Varsity Rowing Celebration weekend, will take place at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River...Oregon State will be the WSU's final tune-up before the Pac-10 Championships, May 16 at Gold River, Calif.
