KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- Tasha Browner torched the Oak Point Golf Course with a 72 and 73 on Tuesday to lead Washington State to a second place finish at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Browner jumped 11 spots on the leader board in the second and third rounds to finish in a fifth-place tie with teammate Jennifer Dodd. The Cougar duo ended the tournament with an 11-over-par 227.
Sophomore Jackie Stevens played a major role in the Cougars third-round 300. The walk-on from Othello, Wash., fired a career-best 75 and finished in a tie for 14th.
As a team, WSU shot a 608 over the last two rounds. That was top score in the 14-team field and the 300 marked the Cougars best effort since breaking the school record with a 298 in September.
The University of North Carolina-Wilmington held off Washington State by four strokes to claim the team title.
James Madison's Meghan Adams took the individual medal with a seven-over-par 223. Winthrop's Katie Allison, Georgia State's Sally Bishop, and Yunuen Sanchez of UNC-Wilmington tied for second, finishing two strokes behind Adams.
The Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate was the final event of the fall season for Washington State.
