Corvallis, Ore.--- After a disappointing first day at the Northwest Collegiate Classic, the Washington State men's golf team was looking to redeem themselves. Thanks to a school record-tying 65 by sophomore Dustin White (Pueblo West, Colo.), they did just that.

The 65 by White, an even 70 for Jeremy Taylor (West Richland, Wash.), and 71s by Jon Reehoorn (Burlington, Wash.) and Roger Flynn (Boise, Idaho) helped the Cougars move from 14th on Monday, to ninth place to finish the tournament. WSU's 277 was second only to Pepperdine, who shot a 276 on Tuesday.

White's 65 tied 1998 graduate Jeremy Champoux's school record and helped the sophomore grab a share of seventh. He was three-under par with a 207 for the tournament. Junior captains Jeremy Taylor and Jon Reehoorn tied for 45th at seven-over. Academic All-American Roger Flynn shot a 218, good for 51st.

Nevada fended off BYU to take team medalist honors. The Wolf Pack carried a three day total of 834, with BYU three shots back at 837.

Oregon's Chris Carnahan used three steady rounds of 67-68-68 for a seven-under 203 total to overtake Wichita State's Brad Golden, who uncorked a 63 on Monday. BYU's Billy Harvey and Nevada's Mike Haack also tied for second.

The Cougars return to the links Sept. 25 in Port Orchard, Wash., for the Husky Invitational.
