ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Faisal Aden scored 25 points to lead Washington State (2-3), which closed to within seven points in the second half but that's as close as it got in the 72-62 loss to New Mexico on Friday night in the 76 Classic.
The Cougars committed 10 turnovers in the opening nine minutes and missed 10 of their first 12 shots to fall behind. They finished with 18 turnovers.
Tony Snell scored 20 points to lead the Lobos.
Kendall Williams had 17 points and seven rebounds as the Lobos (3-2) regrouped from an overtime loss to Santa Clara a day earlier. Chad Adams added 11 points for New Mexico.
The Lobos will face Boston College in the consolation bracket championship game on Sunday.
New Mexico quickly built a 13-2 lead and went up by as many as 17 points midway through the first half.
New Mexico hit 9 of 19 3-pointers.
