PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University's freshman golfer, Raphael Garstecki was recently named to the American Junior Golf Association's Honorable Mention All-American team.
Garstecki, who hails from Milwaukee, Wis., competed in 10 AJGA events in her junior golf career. The AJGA is considered the premier level of play for junior golfers ages 13-18.
Garstecki was honored with the award mainly in part to her success at the AJGA IZZO Junior Classic at Rush Creek in Maple Grove, Minn. The three-round event was held June 3-6 at Rush Creek Golf Club just outside of Minneapolis. Garstecki won the girls division with rounds of 72-75-76--223.
As a Cougar, Garstecki had her highest collegiate finish at the Northwest Invitational in a tie for 47th. In WSU's five tournaments, Garstecki has a stroke average of 81.
To receive her award, Garstecki will be flying to Orlando, Fla., to partake in the AJGA's annual award's banquet ceremonies at Walt Disney World on Nov. 23.
