What's Happening: The Washington State University men's golf team travels to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the first annual Pinehurst Invitational March 28-29...the 54-hole tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,035-yard Centennial Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course.

The Field: Joining the Cougars at the Pinehurst Invitational will be Akron, Bowling Green, Indiana, Marquette, Richmond, St. John's, Southern Methodist, Southern Mississippi, UNC Wilmington, and Xavier.

Cougars Host Pac-10 Championships: WSU will serve as host of the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships, April 25-27 at the Walla Walla Country Club in Walla Walla, Wash...the 72-hole event will consist of 36 holes April 25 and 18 holes April 26 & 27.

First For Fern: Washington State redshirt junior David Fern captured his first career tournament victory, Feb. 14, at the Inland Cup at the Walla Walla Country Club...has finished in the top 26 in six of nine tournaments this season...Fern won the 103rd Pacific Northwest Amateur last summer, an event that Tiger Woods won in 1994...defeated Liam Kendregan 4 and 2 in the 36-hole final at the Overlake Golf & Country Club, July 17...also competed in the United States Amateur... fired a 10-under-par 134 over two rounds to win the U.S. Amateur qualifier at the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course, in Woodburn, Ore. The Woodburn, Ore., qualifier is one of 55 qualifiers held around the country...had 11 birdies and an eagle en route to winning the qualifier by one stroke.

Bryson Sets School Record At Boise: Cougar senior Ben Bryson recorded his first career tournament victory at the Boise State Bronco Round-up, Oct. 12 at the Boise Ranch Golf Course...his 54-hole total of 204 (-9) tied him with Dustin White for the lowest three-round total in school history...competed in the United States Amateur Public Links last summer...qualified for the championship after finishing first at the Reno, Nev. sectional qualifier June 22...shot a two round total of 145 at the Wolf Run Golf Course, winning the qualifier by two strokes...Reno, Nev. qualifier was one of 70 held around the country.

Cougars Win Inland Cup Title: The Cougars captured the Inland Cup team title for the seventh consecutive year with a nine-stroke victory over Idaho, Feb. 14 at the Walla Walla Country Club.
