PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University will send six women and eight men to compete at the Men's 85th and Women's 25th Annual NCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships June 7-10, at the A. G. Spanos Sports Complex on the Sacramento State campus.

The two WSU combined-events competitors, Julie Pickler and Diana Pickler, advanced to the national meet by reaching automatic qualifying standards during the season. Another seven Cougars - Tamara Diles, John Cassleman, James McSwain, Brandi Probasco-Canda, Jaycee Robertson, Brian Woods, and Justin Woods - placed in the top five in their events at the NCAA West Region Meet last weekend in Provo, Utah. The final four entries, Jon Jeffreys, McKinnon Hanson, Matt Lamb and Haley Paul, advanced to the national meet by placing in the top 12 at the regional meet and were selected from the national descending order list based on season-best marks after declarations. Martin Boston, a senior who ran the first leg of the season's fastest men's 4x100m relay but was injured for most of the season, is declared as a relay participant and will battle with Brian Woods to see who takes the lead leg at the championships.

This is the largest Cougar contingent to compete at the NCAA Track & Field Championships since 1991 when WSU sent 13, which was the largest group since before 1989.

The WSU team and coaching staff will leave Pullman Monday, June 5, for the national meet.
