The Washington State University volleyball team opens the 2011 season and the Jen Greeny era at the Seattle University Fall Volley Aug. 26 & 27...Cougars play three matches in the SU Connolly Center: vs. Santa Clara Aug. 26 at 1 p.m., vs. Eastern Washington Aug. 27 at 11 a.m., and vs. host Seattle U Aug. 27 at 7 p.m...Cougars have winning records against all three teams...the Washington State volleyball team has won its season-opening match 20 of the past 21 years...last year the Cougars took a 3-0 win over UC Irvine at the Nike Cougar Invitational in Pullman...all the Cougar volleyball matches at the Seattle Univ. Invite will be broadcast live this weekend...the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning maches will be on KQQQ (1150 AM) while the Saturday night match will be on KHTR (104.3 FM) in Pullman and on the internet (see below).
COUGAR COACHING STAFF
First year Head Coach Jen Stinson Greeny is no stranger to Washington State volleyball...an outstanding student and athlete at WSU, Greeny was an All-Pac-10 player and member of three NCAA teams including the 1996 Elite Eight team...also an assistant coach for three more NCAA appearances including the 2002 Elite Eight team...had highly successful NAIA coaching career at Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) with four-year record of 112-24 (.824)...assistant coaches Pat Stangle (former head coach at Wyoming, former asst. coach at Washington) and Burdette Greeny (former asst. coach at LCSC)...Katie Hinrichs, coordinator of operations (former player at LCSC)...volunteer coach Shannon Wyckoff Hunt was the first WSU player to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
Déjà vu ALL OVER AGAIN?
The last time WSU played Santa Clara was the opening match of the 1997 season...WSU defeated the Broncos 3-0 at the Cougar Challenge tournament...current WSU Head Coach Jen Stinson Greeny and volunteer coach Shannon Wyckoff Hunt were in uniform that day and led the Cougars to victory with Stinson landing 13 kills and Wyckoff adding 10 kills.

WSU volleyball's 14 home matches will have live-streaming webcasts in 2011 on wsucougars.com via Cougar All-Access, a subscription-based service...12 of the home matches will be single-camera video with natural sound audio, while the 10/7 Utah and 10/8 Colorado matches will be multi-camera productions with exclusive audio play-by-play and color commentary from student broadcast major from the renowned Edward R. Murrow College of Communication...Cougar All-Access subscribers will also be able to hear the radio broadcasts of all Cougar road matches online.
