PULLMAN, Wash. - The June Daugherty era officially begins Friday, as the Washington State women's basketball team opens full practice for the 2007-08 season at 7 p.m.
"The first full practice is like Christmas morning when Santa delivers the goodies under the tree," Daugherty said. "Every coach in the country can hardly sleep until they can finally begin a new season."
Daugherty says that the beginning of a brand new championship era in Cougar basketball has she and her staff excited, with more time to teach with film, classroom work and extra practice time.
"Practice has been fun and the players are working hard to learn an entirely new system," Daugherty said. "They are excited to work towards the up-tempo and pressuring styles of play, and are improving weekly."
Practices are open to the media and the general public. Fans will have their first opportunity to catch the Cougars in action, Nov. 2, in an exhibition game against Southern Oregon at 7 p.m. at Friel Court.
