PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University baseball team will open its fall practice schedule Sunday, Sept. 2, Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut announced, Monday.
The Cougars are coming off a 28-26 mark, their second straight winning season under Marbut. WSU's 64 wins in the last two campaigns are the most in consecutive years since 1993-94 (69).
Kost posted two wins and a save in 27 appearances last season and did not give up an earned in 12 of his final 14 appearances. Murphy fielded .996 last season, the highest mark by a Cougar infielder in school history (records are incomplete prior to 1970). Reynolds led WSU in 2007 with a .347 batting average and made 26 starts.
The highlights of the fall schedule include Cougar Alumni Weekend Oct. 5-7 and the Crimson and Gray World Series. The best-of-five World Series will begin Oct. 5 with games 2-5 scheduled for Oct. 8-11.
