EUGENE, Ore. - Tough weather conditions and a challenging golf course plagued the Washington State Men's Golf team as they completed the final round of play in the Duck Invitational on the par-72, 7,033 yard Eugene Country Club golf course, March 27.

The Cougars entered the second day of play with a team score of 598. After shooting a third round score of 309 the men tallied a final team score of 907, landing them in sole possession of 11th place.

"We didn't play too well today," said Head Coach Walt Williams. "Today we were playing in some very tough conditions on a very tough golf course. Because of this and because we were playing with three freshmen, all our mistakes were exaggerated."

Senior Chris Collins garnered the highest finish for the Cougars in a three way tie for 38th. Collins shot a third round score of 80, finishing the tournament with a score of 227 (+11). Freshman Nick Grigsby finished two strokes behind Collins with a final score of 229 (+13).

Freshmen Austin Hurt and Kevin Tucker both finished the day in 49th with matching scores of 230 (+14). Redshirt senior Jordan Madison shot a third round score of 78, accumulating a final score of 232 (+16). Sophomore Max Reinland ended one stroke behind Madison with a score of 233 (+17).

"We're just going to keep working on timing our swings," Williams said. "As the weather warms up we should continue to learn and get better."

The men will be back in action April 2 when they travel to Solvang, Calif. for the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
