FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The Washington State swim team closed out its 2012 season by claiming ninth place at the Pac-12 Women's Swimming Championship, tallying a total of 239.5 points, Saturday.
In the fourth and final day of the meet, the Cougars brought in 52 points, 44 of which came in the 400 free relay where the team comprised of freshman Nicole Proulx, senior Jessie Craig, sophomore Emma Johansson and senior Melissa Bogert finished eighth, touching the wall in 3:23.85.
Freshman Haley Anderson had the best finish of the day for Washington State when she placed 18th in the 1650 free with a time of 17:12.41, which is good enough to earn her ninth place on the Cougar all-time list.
Going home with the 2012 Pac-12 title is California, which won the conference championship with 1389.5 total points. Stanford is the runner-up for the championship with 1341.5 points, and USC claimed third place with 1225 points.
"We had a great year," commented head coach Tom Jager. "Our kids are happy and the coaching staff is happy. We are proud of our team and what we have accomplished this year. This has been one of my best years ever coaching."
