PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State Cougars fell to the Washington Huskies, 65-48, in Pac-10 women's basketball action, Saturday at Beasley Coliseum.
The loss dropped WSU to 8-20 overall and 6-10 in the Pac-10 Conference. Washington improved to 11-14 and 6-10 in the conference.
Carly Noyes led WSU with eight points while Sage Romberg and Brandi Thomas added seven points each. Washington was led by 18 points from Mackenzie Argens. Regina Rogers added 13 points for the Huskies.
The Cougars jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the game's early stages but Washington went on a 16-0 run to open a 20-10 lead at the 9:25 mark of the first half.
WSU responded with a 15-6 run, which included seven straight points, to close to 26-25 with 1:59 left. Washington withstood the rally and went into the half with a 30-25 lead.
WSU stayed within striking distance early on in the second half, trailing 43-36 with 11:20 left. But Washington used a 12-2 run to open a 55-38 advantage with 7:53 left and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
WSU returns to action at USC, Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m.
