PULLMAN, Wash. - For the first time in seven years, Washington State and Washington will square off in a nonconference baseball game.

The arch-rival members of the Pacific-10 Conference will meet in Pasco, Tuesday May 24 at 6 p.m. in the Cougar Diamond Classic.

The game in sponsored by Toyota of Tri-Cities with support from Lamb Weston and will take place at Gesa Stadium, home of the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League.

Tickets range from $10-25 and can be purchased at the Dust Devils' ticket office or by calling 509-544-8789.

The Dust Devils are the Short-Season Class A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Former Cougar pitcher James Freeman (2002-06) appeared in 26 games for the Dust Devils over the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Prior to the Dust Devils' inception in 2001, Gesa Stadium (then Tri-Cities Stadium) was home to the Tri-City Posse of the independent Western League (1995-2000).

A handful of former Cougars, including pitcher Eric Estes (1992-95 WSU; 1995 Tri-City), pitcher Chris Sheehan (1990-92 WSU; 1996 Tri-City), catcher Jeff Scherer (1998-99 WSU; 1999 Tri-City), infielder Greg Mitchell (1997-98 WSU; 1999-2000 Tri-City) and pitcher David Wheeler (1996-98 WSU; 1999-2000 Tri-City), wore the Posse uniform. In addition, legendary Cougar Head Coach Charles "Bobo" Brayton managed Tri-City to a runner-up finish in the Western League during the 1996 season.

The Cougars won two of three games in a Pac-10 series against the Huskies, April 29- May 1 at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman.
