PULLMAN, Wash.-- After earning their second ever spot in the NCAA College Cup, the Washington State soccer team has earned its first national ranking of the season. The Cougs, now ranked 19th nationally in the Soccer America poll, cracked the top 20 after a 1-0 upset of third ranked Washington.

WSU has been ranked regionally for most of the season, and received votes in SoccerBuzz's national poll, but this is the first time they have earned a national ranking. The Cougars are also ranked 21st in SoccerBuzz. The last time the Cougars earned a national ranking was in 1994, also the last time the Cougars went to the NCAA tournament. WSU was ranked as high as 19 that year.

The Cougs will be hosting the first round of the NCAA College Cup with Montana Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT at Cougar Soccer Field. Admission will be charged as mandated by the NCAA, $7 for adults and $5 for students, youth and senior citizens.

Tickets are on sale now at the Pullman ticket office or by phone 335-9626 or 800-GO-COUGS, option three. Tickets are also sold at the CUB Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the lounge in the west corner. Tickets can also be bought at the gate. The Sports Pass does not work for WSU students at this event.

Five other Pac-10 teams are among the national ranks in the final regular season poll, Washington is third, California fourth, UCLA eighth, Stanford 12th and USC is 14th, while Arizona State received votes.
