Box Score

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona came from behind for the third-straight game and completed a three-game sweep of Washington State with a 4-2 win in a Pacific-10 Conference game at Kindall Field, Sunday.

The 22nd-ranked Wildcats (25-11, 6-6 Pac-10) tied the game 2-2 with a run in the seventh inning and tallied twice in the eighth inning off reliever James Wise (0-2) to claim the victory.

With one out in the eighth, Bryce Ortega singled and T.J. Steele was hit by a pitch. Bobby Coyle followed with a RBI-single and C.J. Ziegler walked to load the bases. Brad Glenn added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly off Michael Ratigan.

"Once again, we played good, just not good enough to win," WSU Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "You have to score more than two runs on Sunday in the Pac-10. The only positive I can take out of this is Chad Arnold gave us a great effort on the mound."

Arnold started and received no decision after going six and one-third innings giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits while striking out four and walking one.

The Cougars (19-18, 3-9 Pac-10) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Greg Lagreid singled, moved to third on a double by Alex Burg, and scored on a ground out by Scott Suttmeier.

After the Wildcats tied the game with a run in the fourth, Washington State answered in the fifth on a triple by Travis Coulter and a double by Paul Gran to take a 2-1 lead.

The Cougars, which have lost their last four games in the opponent's last at bat, returns to Pullman to open a seven-game homestand beginning with San Jose State, Friday at 5:30 p.m.
