PULLMAN, Wash. - Sophomore Garry Kuykendall collected three hits and drove in two runs to lead Washington State past Washington 10-5 in Pacific-10 Conference baseball, Sunday at Bailey-Brayton Field.

With the victory, the Cougars (31-23, 19-8 Pac-10) completed a three-game sweep of the Huskies (25-30, 13-14 Pac-10). Junior Connor Lambert (2-1) pitched two innings in relief to earn the win while Washington starter Andrew Kittredge (4-5) suffered the loss.

"You cannot say enough about our group of guys," WSU Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "To battle back once again for a victory was tremendous. It was a great way to send out our seniors."

Washington scored twice off Cougar redshirt-freshman starter David Stilley in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. After WSU scored once in the second, the Huskies tallied three unearned runs in the third to increase their advantage to 5-1.

In the bottom of the third, Kuykendall led off with a single up the middle and redshirt-sophomore Jay Ponciano launched a home run over the right field wall to pull the Cougars within 5-3.

WSU put together a two-out rally in the sixth to take the lead. After sophomore Shea Vucinich was hit by a pitch, sophomore Ryan Peterson doubled down the left field line. Freshman pinch hitter Patrick Claussen followed with an infield single and took second on a throwing error as Vucinich and Peterson scored to tie the game. Kuykendall singled home Claussen and the Cougars had their first lead of the game at 6-5.

In the seventh, senior Jared Prince and junior Michael Weber singled with one out to put runners at the corners. Vucinich knocked in both runners with a triple high off the left-center field wall. The Cougars added two more runs on a pair of fielder's choice RBI to cap the scoring.

Washington State will expect to hear its name called when the 2009 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship field of 64 is announced, Monday. The selection show will be televised by ESPN at 9:30 a.m.
