LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Washington State women's soccer squad scored on both of its first-half shots and the visiting Cougars bounced Kentucky 2-0 in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon.

Junior Kimberly Schelpf and freshman Deka DeWitt scored the goals for the Cougars (5-4-0) who won their third straight match on the road.

Schelpf (Ocean, N.J.) hit the game winner in the 13th minute with her first goal of the season. She took a pass from Randi Glas (Grand Forks, N.D.) and knocked a one-touch shot to the left post. Twelve minutes later, DeWitt (Auburn, Wash.) blasted a 35-yard shot into the back of the net for her team-leading fourth goal.

Kentucky (5-6-1), an NCAA Tournament team in 1995 and 1996, outshot the Cougars 11-4.

Defensively, WSU freshman goalkeeper Shannon Wilson (Las Vegas, Nevada) picked up her third shutout. The Cougars also cleared 11 corner kicks taken by the Wildcats.

WSU begins Pacific-10 Conference play Friday, Oct. 10 when the Cougars host Oregon State in a 3 p.m. contest.
