FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Cougars Jill Olson, Erin Eldridge and Melissa Hubley placed in the top 10 to carry the Washington State women's swimming team to a tenth place finish at the 51st Annual Husky Invitational held at the King County Aquatic Center Sunday.

Olson finished sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17 minutes, 15.37 seconds. The Seattle native turned in the second fastest school time in the event. Former Cougar Shelly Hart holds the school record at 16:58.17. The freshman distance specialist moved into the all-time school records earlier this week in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events.

Eldridge, a senior All-American, set another NCAA consideration time in the 200 breaststroke with a third-place 2:17.36. This is a season best for the Kirkland, Wash. native who has been an NCAA Championships qualifier the last two seasons. She clocked in an NCAA consideration time Saturday night in the 100 breaststroke.

Hubley, a freshman from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, placed fifth in the 200 butterfly with a 2:05.76. In the preliminaries of the event, Hubley set a new school record with a time of 2:04.59. The previous record was set in 1991 by former Cougar Kelly Kocur (2:05.36).

Senior co-captains Gretchen Chambers (Adelaide, Australia) and Kelley Miedema (Cape Town, South Africa) added points to the Cougars' final team standings. Chambers finished 13th in the 1,650 freestyle (17:54.27) and Miedema finished 12th in the 200 backstroke (2:06.24). Both times were season bests.

Host Washington took home the invitational title. There were 42 teams competiting over the last four-days, which included six collegiate teams and 36 club teams from the Pacific Northwest and West Coast.

WSU heads into winter training until a Jan. 3 dual meet versus Louisiana State at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
