Men's Golf Treks to Utah for Ping Cougar Classic

What's Happening This Week: The Washington State University men's golf team travels to Provo, Utah, to compete in its final tournament of the regular season at the Ping Cougar Classic April 18-19, hosted by Brigham Young...the two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,950-yard Riverside Country Club...the first two rounds of play begin Friday at 8 a.m...the final 18 holes will be played Saturday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m...results after each day will be posted at www.wsucougars.com.

The Field: The 14-team field pairs Washington State with No. 46 St. Mary's, Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Idaho State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Sacramento State, Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley State, Weber State and Wyoming (Ranking according to Golfweek).

Traveling for the Cougars: Five Cougars will be traveling to Utah to take a swing at victory...the Cougar contingent includes sophomores Nick Grigsby, Austin Hurt and Kevin Tucker and freshmen Xavier Dailly and Nick Ellis.

Men's Golf Shines in the Spring: With the fourth-place finish at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational April 8, the Cougars have placed in the top 10 in all five tournaments this spring...the Cougars opened the spring season as co-champions of the Cuthbert Cup, Feb. 25.

Last Time Out: The Cougar men placed fourth and never gave up their position on the leaderboard at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational, hosted by Colorado, April 8...the men went 298-295-298 during the tournament to finish with an 891 at the par-72, 7,144-yard Stevinson Ranch Golf Club...three Cougars placed in the top 25 and the team was led by Hurt and Tucker, who both finished tied for 10th...Hurt and Tucker both fired a 4-over par 220...Hurt earned the third top 10 finish of his career and Tucker earned his third of the season...Tucker needs one more top 10 this season to crack the all-time list at WSU...Ellis moved up six positions in final round to finish tied for 16th...Ellis inked a 224 and his performance places him in a tie for fifth on the list for top 25 finishes in a season (seven)...senior Jordan Mason and Grigsby carded a 231 to round out the Cougar scorers...junior Brandon Black, playing as an individual, also shot a 231.
