This Week: The Washington State swim team travels to Austin, Texas to participate in the Texas Invite...three-day competition begins Thursday, Nov. 30 and concludes Saturday, Dec. 2.
Cougar Recap: WSU handed archrival Washington Huskies a 153.5-108.5 victory Nov. 11 at WSU's Gibb Pool...the win was the third in program history over the Huskies...Cougar senior Erin McCleave set three individual Gibb Pool records...time of 1:49.75 in the 200 freestyle set a pool record...second pool record of the night came in the 100 freestyle (50.81)...third record set in the 500 freestyle (4:53.49)...all three times were also NCAA "B" Consideration Standard times...200 medley relay squad of Bryn Mooney, Monika Povilonyte, Michaela Ahlin and Jamie MacLeod set Gibb Pool record with a time of 1:45.31.
The Texas Invite: The meet takes place over three days (Nov. 30-Dec. 2) with two sessions each day...event preliminaries in the first session followed by finals in the second...competition includes both men's and women's swimming and diving...women's competitors include Top-25 teams No. 1 Stanford. No. 6 Florida, No. 11 Texas, No. 14 UCLA, No. 18 Wisconsin and No. 24 Arizona State...UC Santa Barbara, Hawaii, UNLV, TCU, WSU, and Wyoming round out the competition...participants from each team are chosen based on US Open cuts and the potential to swim on A or B relays...competing for the Cougars will be freshmen Michael Ahlin and Shawna Keller; sophomores Jamie MacLeod, Afton Pickett and Elyse Peterson; juniors Danielle Berish and Bryn Mooney; and seniors Lindsay Backhouse, Kayli Changstrom, Erin McCleave, Monika Povilonyte and Katie Van Horne.
