THIS WEEK: The Washington State (1-0-0) soccer team travels to Portland for a 7 p.m. match, Friday, Aug. 26...Cougars open their home season at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28 against Seattle.

LAST WEEK: The Cougars opened their 2011 season with a 3-1 victory at Hawaii, Aug. 19...sophomore midfielder Eileen Maes scored three second half goals as Washington State overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit.

MAES NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: After scoring three goals in less than 22 minutes during the second half at Hawaii, Aug. 19, sophomore Eileen Maes was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week...second hat trick of the Oakland, Calif., native's career and her second player of the week recognition.

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH Matt Potter: Currently in his ninth season, Cougar Head Coach Matt Potter has already amassed a school-record 77 victories...only Washington State mentor to guide the program to back-to-back NCAA postseason appearances (2008 and 2009).

SUNDAY PROMOTIONS: When the Cougars host Seattle, Sunday, Aug. 28, the first 300 fans will receive a Cougar soccer halftime, students will have the opportunity to win prizes, including a $50 gift card to The Bookie. two guest passes to Dad's Weekend football and a dorm chair...students can also sign up for Cougar Hooligans, the inaugural WSU Soccer student fan club...2011 soccer schedule posters will be will also have the opportunity to start their collection of 2011 Washington State soccer trading cards...come out and support the team and help Washington State break the 18-year-old attendance record...Pullman Soccer Club will take part in pregame introductions and scrimmage at halftime...Cougar soccer will host a youth clinic after the match and Washington State student-athletes will be available for autographs.
