PALM DESERT, Calif. - Washington State junior Kevin Chen led the Cougars during the final 18 holes of the 2006 Pacific-10 Men's Golf Championships finishing with a 11-over 295 at the par-71, 7,009 yard Big Horn Golf Course, Wednesday.

Chen carded three birdies during the day with one coming on each of the last two holes as he moved into a two-way tie for 31st. Chen started the tournament off strong with a 2-over 73 that he matched during the third round followed by a 4-over 75 to round out the tournament.

Senior Ryan Witz finished close behind Chen knotted at 33rd. Witz also showed his strength during the first day finishing tied for 24th after posting opening day of 72-73. The Tucson, Ariz., native's finish caps off a strong year that brought five top-10 efforts including the first place honor at the Duck Invitational.

Sophomore Jordan Mason matched his third round score of 4-over 75 during the final 18 holes to move him into a three-way tie for 40th at 16-over 300. Junior Chris Collins finished the day strong birding the 18th hole to record his best round of the tournament. Collins' 2-over 73 helped him climb eight spots into a tie for 48th. Collins found himself in familiar company as teammate Jordan Madison also tied for 48th (303, +19).

The Cougars finished the tournament in ninth place following a final round score of 376 that landed them at 74-over 1494. UCLA (No.5/Golfstat) dominated the field while holding onto its lead throughout the final 18 holes. The Bruins took the team title finishing at even par. Washington placed second at 12-over 1432 , followed by Arizona State at 17-over 1437. UCLA's Daniel Im stayed strong throughout the final round to hold onto his lead taking the individual crown one stroke ahead of Arizona State's Niklas Lemke.
