PULLMAN, Wash. - In preparation for its exhibition game against Lewis-Clark State College, Nov. 4, the Washington State University men's basketball team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage, Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon-2 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum. The scrimmage is open to the public and fans are encouraged to watch the 2007-08 basketball squad before rooting on the football team as it faces UCLA at Martin Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
The Cougars' season opened nearly two weeks ago with their first practice Oct. 12. Since then WSU has been in the gym in preparation to better its school record-tying 26-win mark from 2006-07. This season the expectations are set high for the Cougars as they are picked anywhere from seventh to 14th nationally in many magazine and website preseason polls.
"I think the pressure's there, but I don't think we feel it," junior Daven Harmeling said. "We feel like we've been in so many situations...name any of our Pac-10 and NCAA Tournament games...we've been in pressure situations, and we're prepared for more."
Washington State opens the regular season as it hosts Eastern Washington, Friday, Nov. 9 at approximately 6:30 p.m., following the women's opener against Portland.
