Collins Nabs Second Top-10 Finish of the Season at Mackenzie Invitational

FAIRFAX, Calif. - After three rounds of play, junior Chris Collins captured his second top-10 finish of the year at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational held at the par-71, 6,606 yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.

Collins' third round score of 72 bumped him up into the top-10 after being in a tie for 11th after the first two rounds. Collins ended the tournament knotted in a seven-way tie for 10th. His tenth place finish marks his second top-10 finish of the season and his third top-10 finish as a Cougar. The South Dakota native racked up his first top-10 finish this season at the Northwest Collegiate Classic where he finished in a tie for fourth.

Redshirt junior Jordan Madison battled his way up the charts moving up eight spots to end the tournament in a four-way tie for 28th. Sophomore Jordan Mason finished up the 3 rounds in a four way tie for 36th. Rounding out the Cougar contingent, senior Ryan Witz finished in a four-way tie for 42nd while freshman Max Reinland finished 78th.

The Cougars finished the tournament in 10th place at 862 (+10). Host California moved up two spots after the third round into first place to capture the title. Fresno State and No.15 Purdue rounded out the top three.

The Cougar men return to action October 24-25 at the Barona Collegiate Cup held at the Barona Creek Golf Course in Lakeside, Calif.
