PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State Cougar football team will play all six home games of the 2010 schedule in Martin Stadium and will return to Qwest Field when it hosts UNLV in 2011, WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk announced Wednesday.
"Throughout the past year we have had ongoing discussions with our partners at Qwest Field on continuing our relationship," said Sterk. "However, the way the 2010 nonconference and Pac-10 schedules came together, playing a game in Seattle this year was not feasible.
"We have tremendous support from fans and alumni for our annual game in Seattle, which over the past few years has become known as the Cougar Gridiron Classic presented by Washington's Beef Producers," Sterk continued. "While we will miss not playing in Qwest Field this year, we have finalized arrangements with Qwest to return Sept. 10, 2011, when the Cougars will face UNLV. Going forward we look to continue playing a home game in Seattle as the schedule allows."
WSU has played a home game at Qwest Field each of the past eight seasons. The Cougars open the 2010 schedule Sept. 4 at Oklahoma State.
Additionally, dates for WSU Foundation Day, Homecoming and Dad's Weekend have been announced by the university. WSU Foundation Day will be Sept. 25 against USC, Homecoming is set for Oct. 9 against Oregon and Dad's Weekend will be Oct. 16 versus Arizona.
