Kim Welch finishes tied for third at Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Washington State Sophomore Kim Welch finished in third place at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic at the par 72, 6,036 yard Ptarmigan Country Club, Tuesday.

Welch's third place effort was her seventh top 10 finish in her young career, and the highest placing she has received since she captured a victory at the Duck Invitational last March. Welch finished tied for second for the most birdies at the tournament with 12, and had the third lowest Par 4 scoring at 3.83.

Washington State finished in 10th place out of a field of 17 schools, and five shots up on 11th place Boise State. WSU placed seventh in Par 4 scoring, and sixth in par 5 scoring out of the 17 schools participating.

Sophomore Jay Lee Longbottom moved up seven spots to finish in a tie for 33rd, and Stephanie Parsley finished the day in a tie for 57th. Katharine Dorris ended the day in 66th, and Donna Bell gained three spots to tie for 74th and round out the Cougar contingent.
