WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - After a promising first day of play junior Jordan Mason was not able to complete his second round Tuesday at the USC Collegiate Invitational played at the par-71, 6,900 yards North Ranch Community College golf course. Mason suffered a severe ankle sprain while crossing a body of water between the tee box and the elevated green on the 17th hole.

Freshman Kevin Tucker achieved the highest finish for the Cougars in a tie for 58th. Tucker shot a season low of 75 in the third round of play to give him a final score of 15-over 228. Senior Chris Collins finished the tournament in a tie for 61st. Collins completed the second day of competition with an overall score of 17-over 230.

The final two Cougar participants, freshmen Austin Hurt and Nick Grigsby, finished in 75th and 80th respectively. The Cougars faced remarkable opponents in the tournament, including first-ranked Stanford and fifth-ranked USC.

The Cougars finished the tournament in 15th place following a final round score of 322 that landed them at 70-over 922. Stanford dominated the field while holding onto its lead throughout the final 18 holes. The Cardinal took the team title finishing at 4-under 848. USC placed second at 1-over 853.

Mason, who was helped from the course, is expected to miss the men's next competition at the Border Olympics at Houston, Texas, March 16-17. His progress will be evaluated weekly.
