PULLMAN, Wash. -- Sophomore Jon Reehorn and junior Jeremy Taylor posted a pair of 72s in final-round action, leading Washington State to a seventh place finish in the Fairway Club Invitational at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Reehorn, (77-71-72---220) who was 11th overall after two rounds, moved up to eighth on the final day of the tournament for his second consecutive top 15 finish and the fourth of his career. Taylor (West Richland, Wash.) had a career day, with a personal best 16th place finish and a career-low 222 three-round total.
The University of Kansas (295-286-272---853) stretched its second round lead even further on the final day of the tournament. The Jayhawks finished 35 strokes in front of second place Missouri (298-297-293---888). Colorado State and California tied for third at 890.
Kansas senior Ryan Vermeer (68-67-67---202) recorded the wire-to-wire victory, carding an 11-under-par for the tournament. Vermeer's teammate, Andy Stewart (73-71-67---211), shot a third-round four-under-par 67 to slide past Missouri's Neal Stafford (71-70-73---214), who finished third.
UP NEXT: The Cougars will compete in the Husky Invitational on Sept. 27-28 in Seattle.
