SAN DIEGO (AP) - Washington State held San Diego State without a field goal for a stretch of over 16 minutes in the second half and went on to post a 60-49 victory at Cox Arena in the second game of the San Diego Slam.

The University of San Diego beat Fresno State In the first game of the doubleheader 72-61.

Robbie Cowgill had 12 points and seven rebounds for Washington State (5-2), Derrick Low scored 11 and Caleb Forrest 10.

Marcus Slaughter had his third straight double-double with 26 points and 17 rebounds for San Diego State (4-4).

Washington State, which trailed 27-21 at the half, outscored the Aztecs 24-11, to take a 45-38 lead with 7:41 left in the game.

San Diego State pulled to within three points at 48-45 with 2:46 remaining on a pair of free throws by John Sharper, but the Cougars went on a 12-4 run to end the game.

Slaughter's dunk with 13.8 seconds left in the game was San Diego State's first field goal since Kyle Spain's layup at the 16:18 mark gave the Aztecs a 35-29 lead.

The Aztecs missed 23 straight shots from that point until Slaughter's dunk.

San Diego State shot 26.4 percent from the field for the game (14-for-53) while Washington State was 24-for-55 for 43.6 percent.

Aztecs starting guard Brandon Heath was 1-for-13 from the floor and 0-for-6 from the free-throw line.
