PULLMAN, Wash. --- Washington State quarterback Matt Kegel agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings Monday.
"I'm very excited to receive this chance and look forward to competing for a spot on the roster," Kegel said. "Having only been a starter at Washington State one year, I wasn't expecting too much in the way of the draft, but I feel fortunate that I'm going to have an opportunity to pursue my dream."
Kegel led the Cougars to a 10-3 record and a victory over Texas in the Holiday Bowl in 2003. The Havre, Mont., native passed for 2,947 yards, good for sixth on WSU's single season list, and 21 touchdowns.
Kegel threw for 300 yards or more five times during a six-game span as a senior, going for 310 at Colorado, 346 against New Mexico, 315 against Arizona, 331 at Stanford, and 305 against Oregon State. Kegel earned second team All-Pac-10 honors.
