PACIFIC-10 CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL MEDIA DAY

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH Dick Bennett QUOTES

(On rebuilding the WSU program)

"It is not an easy job although it has taken shape in the vision I thought it would. When it a program is really down, it takes three years to rebuild.

The first year you play with whoever is there. We did that and worked on a recruiting class that brought in five freshmen. They combined with the kids what were already there and gave us a respectable season last year."

(On this year's team)

"We have five sophomores that are going to take up the majority of the playing time. The one junior college player we did bring in who is going to help us is Ivory Clark."

"The third year is a bigger concern than either of the first two years, but it is no different than any of the places I've been."

(On this year's team compared to last year's team)

"We shoot the ball a little better, but we're a long way from being where I want to be defensively."

(On his son Tony one day succeeding him as WSU's head coach)

"Any recruiting will be done in Tony's name. The kids coming in know there will be continuity."
